Data acquisition systems are widely used in race cars. The main reasons why racing teams are using data acquisition are analysing vehicle and driver performance and monitor reliability and safety. In this article the methodology of designing data acquisition system for track car was described. Data logger was manufactured in cooperation with Formula Student team – Cerber Motorport from Bialystok University of Technology. For reliability and ease of manufacturing commercial components and sensors were used. To connect all these components into one functional system the printed circuit board was created by usage of Eagle software. Device is controlled by ESP-12 module programmed in Arduino IDE software. Designed system allows to record GPS coordinates, vehicle velocity, lateral and longitudinal G-forces and angular velocities. Collected data was saved on SD card and next analysed in Matlab software.
