Sample measurement of the ISO 22400 standard key performance indicators with the use of simulation models

Abstract

Key performance indicators (KPIs) are very important for understanding and improving production efficiency. Indicators are a point of reference for employees, reflect the current characteristics of the process, facilitate rules of cooperation that are defined, clear and acceptable to all parties. KPIs are used to measure the basic parameters that characterise the functioning of an organisation. Measurement of production efficiency is, apart from the choice of the optimisation method, a key element of the author's methodology of designing production systems. The article analyses selected key performance indicators and verifies them using simulation models. Planning studies based on simulation models can contribute significantly to the development of efficient production lines. Digital manufacturing enables modelling and simulation of any product. The article presents one of the available systems - Tecnomatix Plant Simulation.
