Modification of the shape of thermal insulation of a twin-pipe pre-insulated network

AbstractThe paper presents a proposal for the thermal insulation of pre-insulated twin pipes with the shape of a cross- section described by the Cassini oval equation. The proposed technical solution of the Cassini oval-shaped thermal insulation has been compared with standard, pre-insulated twin pipes with a circular thermal insulation for a constant value of the cross-sectional area of both thermal insulations. All calculations were made using the boundary element method (BEM). The paper presents the results of calculations of unit heat fluxes as a function of the external environment temperatures as well as sample temperature fields, and heatlines for pre-insulated twin pipes with circular and Cassini oval-shaped thermal insulation.
